Thank you for bringing this request to our attention. We will pray for Chris D. and address the issues present.
First, as a group of Christian Believers we remember:
And whatever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:13,14 WEB
It is only through Jesus Christ we have access to God the Father and it is only through Jesus Christ we can be saved. There is no other path to salvation. Submitting our lives to God and turning away from our sin through believing in Jesus, there is no other way to be saved.
Let's first address many issues in Chris D's life. Chris D, should be in a Christian church fellowshipping with other Christian Believers, that should be the center of his/her social network. This Christian Believer has a calling as a Christian to be in a church with other Christian Believers. Chris has a purpose and a gift to help other Christians. He/She should have a Christian job, he/she should be in a Christian school, should be active in Christian ministries, should be doing good deeds for the Lord. Chris D should follow the great commission and share the Gospel proactively.
We should pray for Chris D to be sanctified, meaning set apart to do these things.
We pray against the biggest sin in Christianity: Not being in a Christian church regularly and not fellowshipping with other Christians. We need Godly friends and activities as part of dealing with sin. If Chris D is falling into this sin, then Chris D needs to repent.
Next, if he/she is not being disciplined and able to follow these things then hell will be the ultimate punishment. We pray:
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father our Lord, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. Ephesians 1:17,18 WEB
We pray Chris D can come to a godly discipline in order to avoid the pitfalls of this world.
Now, who should chastise Chris D? His parents when he/she is young and most likely his/her spouse and proably elders in the church for lack of discipline.
Most likely discipline is not being done in love and therefore we pray Chris can see to have in his/her life a spouse that can do this as well as being open to Godly church elders. Hopefully, he/she is not an elder themselves as the elders should be good examples to keep their lives disciplined and should be following the commands of Christ and living a decent disciplined life. We should search the scriptures and pray to God to find these godly leaders or spouse and not be willfully disobedient.
Discipline is for our good and because God loves us. For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light.
The scriptures should be the basis for how discipline is administered and received, as a child and as an adult.
We should pray for discipline in love rather than punishment so consequences should be clearly discussed. It would be good to use examples in the Bible to prayerfully consider the discipline God could be giving Chris D or that is needed. To be clear and not just punish for the sake of punishment. The punishment of Christ is only for sin, our sins are forgiven if we have faith in it.
Think of this as possible examples Jesus gave the disciples examples how not to do things as well as how to do things. The Lord only tells us what is best for us. He is our father and our savior. Please consider the Lord to be a refuge not someone to fear.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15 We pray that all in this situation can discern the meaning of being disciplined in these verses.
We would also be mindful, it should not be a physical mark but the rod often was a staff to guide sheep rather than a club to beat people.
We need repeated discipline so we remember what is best for us and what the Lord has in mind for a future and a hope for us. Godly discipline is a good thing for us just like God's will in our lives.
Lastly, we will pray for this situation.
Father, we pray these things as for your will for the life of Chris D and all Christians. We pray for peace and that the hand of God is leading him/her to a sanctified life. We pray for peace knowing that the peace of God shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. We also pray discipline will be in love and for the good of Chris D rather than simply punitive in this life or the next. We pray for a godly spouse in order to help. We pray this as Jesus Christ taught us to pray and we pray these things in Jesus Name, Amen.
