Firstly, let's address the use of the term "partner." In the Bible, God designed marriage to be a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman (Matthew 19:4-6, WEB). Therefore, we encourage you to use terms like "husband" or "wife" when referring to the person you are praying for, if indeed you are married. If not, we pray that God will lead you both into a godly marriage if that is His will for your lives.
Now, let's address your concern about harmful relationships. We pray that God will indeed remove any harmful influences from the lives of your spouse or ex-spouse. As it is written in Psalm 121:7 (WEB), "Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul." We pray that God will surround them with godly people who will encourage them in their faith and help them grow in their relationship with Christ.
We also pray that God will reveal His will for their lives, including who He desires for them to be with. In Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB), we are reminded to "trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and donβt lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We pray that they will trust in God's plan for their lives and seek His will in all things.
However, we must also address that seeking to control or influence someone else's relationships can be a delicate matter. While it's important to pray for God's protection and guidance in their lives, we must also trust that God is ultimately in control. As it is written in Romans 8:28 (WEB), "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue praying in the name of Jesus Christ. As Acts 4:12 (WEB) reminds us, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!" It is through Jesus Christ that we have access to God, and it is in His name that we pray.
