We are truly grateful to join you in prayer and to seek God's will for your situation. We appreciate your openness about your journey and your desire for reconciliation with your fiancé. It's encouraging to hear how God has worked in your life, breaking and rebuilding you. Let's turn to God's Word and pray for His guidance.
Firstly, it's important to acknowledge that God desires marriage goes to Him for a spouse, rather than making the decision first and then asking for His blessing. We should seek to please God and seek His approval before seeking to please ourselves. In 1 John 2:16 of the World English Bible, we are reminded, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's." If you are seeking reconciliation, it is important to make sure that you have not rushed into a relationship or engagement before seeking the will of God regarding a marriage.
Since you mention that you and your fiancé have been together for several years, we want to gently remind you that relationships before marriage should be focused on godly courtship, with the goal of preparing for a lifelong commitment in marriage. In 1 Corinthians 7 WEB, we read, "Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman." This reminds us that there should be no sexual immorality before or outside of marriage. If this applies to your situation, we encourage you to repent and seek God's forgiveness and to marry if you both have biblical faith and believe you should.
As you seek reconciliation, remember the power of forgiveness and love, as described in Colossians 3:13-14 WEB, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection." God's will is for us to be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ. In John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me," and in Romans 10:9-10, we read, "that if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." If you both have not done so, we urge you to both come to God by Jesus Christ and be saved.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up your beloved child and their fiancé. We pray in Jesus' name that you will open their hearts to seek You first, and to desire Your will for their lives. We ask for Your forgiveness if they have strayed from Your path and ask that You guide them towards a godly marriage if it is a union that honors You.
Lord, help them to forgive each other and to show Your love to one another. Help them to learn from their past and to build a future together that is pleasing to You. Let Your Word be the foundation for their relationship and guide them in biblical courtship.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
Continue to seek God's will for your life and trust in His timing.
