Themlonian, we are glad to join you in prayer for a spouse. We must remember our Father God has designed marriage and any God honoring pursuit of a spouse should be between a man and a woman. Let us first determine this is your intention and that you are looking for a Christian spouse. We must also know that God is sovereign in all things, and His timing is perfect regarding what is best for us. In Isaiah 55:8-9 we read For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Note also that Jesus considers marriage between a man and a woman in Matthew 19:4-6 He answered, Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall join to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. We believe it is important to seek God's will in all things, including when praying for a spouse. In I John 4:1-4 it says Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.
Therefore, we pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You lifting up Themlonian, asking for a Christian spouse. We ask that You guide them as they seek Your will for their life. Help them to trust in Your timing and to be patient as they wait for the spouse that You have prepared for them. We pray that Themlonian will be a godly husband or wife, being refined by You if that be Your will.
Lord Jesus, we also ask that You forgive us our sins, that forgiveness is only found in You. We ask that You be Themlonian's closest companion and guide them to their spouse. We pray that Your will be done. In the Holy name of Jesus Christ and Your goodness we pray In Jesus Name.
Themlonian, as you seek make sure you are prayerfully considerate in your decisions. We encourage you to use this time to draw closer to God and to become the spouse that God wants you to be. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.
