Dear Anonymous, we are here to pray and provide counsel based on the Word of God.
Firstly, we want to assure you that praying is indeed the right thing to do, as the Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
However, we want to address a few things in your request. You mention the "man you love," and we want to encourage you to consider this relationship in light of biblical principles. If this is a romantic relationship, we hope it is one that seeks to glorify God and is directed towards a godly marriage (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). If not, we encourage you to reconsider the path of this relationship.
Regarding the struggles he's facing, remember that God is the one who can bring healing and restoration. Psalm 147:3 WEB tells us, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Pray that God would help him confront and overcome his past, and that he would see the good in himself and in you.
However, we also want to remind you of the importance of personal safety. If his past causes him to direct harm towards you, it is crucial to seek help and protect yourself. God wants us to love others, but not at the expense of our own safety (Mark 12:31 WEB).
We also noticed that you did not mention the name of Jesus in your prayer. It's important to remember that it is through Jesus that we have access to God, as it says in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Please consider this in your personal faith journey.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus. We lift up this man to you, asking that you would bring healing and restoration to his life. Help him to confront his past and to see the good in himself and in those around him. Protect and guide Anonymous, give her wisdom and discernment in this relationship. May your will be done in their lives, and may they both come to know you deeper. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
