Prayer for a companion

I have been single for over 20 years, and now I am ready to find a companion. I pray that God will help me and guide me to the right person. Please help me pray for that loving and caring person who could minister to me and draw me closer to God

We are glad to join you in prayer as you seek a companion. It's important to remember that God's timing is perfect, and He knows the desires of your heart. We should seek God first. First, let's look at what the Bible says about relationships and marriage.

In 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB it says, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" This verse reminds us that as Christians, we should look for spouses who are also believers and walk with Christ. If you are looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend and not marriage, this would actually be an example of fornication. In 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB, it is clear, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."

Regarding your prayer, it's wonderful that you're seeking a loving and caring person who can draw you closer to God. However, you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ or any abbreviation to reference his name. The only way to be saved in Acts 4:12 WEB is quite clear, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." In addition, the only way to access God the Father in John 14:6 WEB is through his son Jesus Christ, for "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."

As a Christian, we should be looking for a spouse and not just a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship. Since we are all sinners and do not have the insight or perspective of God, we need God's guidance in this choice in our life. Let us pray for you an example of a wife in Proverbs 31:10-31:

Let us pray this for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus to lift up our brother Varrisar. Lord, we thank You for the desire You've placed in his heart for companionship. We begin with praying for salvation and that anyone reading this become a saved believer of Jesus according to Romans 10:9-10. We pray that you will guide Varrisar to a godly wife who loves and worships You. We pray that You will help him to be patient and to trust in Your timing. We ask for his faith to be built up. In the meantime, we pray that You will prepare him and his future wife's heart to receive Your wisdom in each step of their journey.

When you guide Varrisar to her, we know that you're going to do it so that he knows that you and only you did this.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Be encouraged, and trust that God is working behind the scenes. Continue to seek Him with all your heart, and He will direct your paths as it says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and dont lean on your own understanding. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
