We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle your son is facing, and we are here to intercede with you in prayer. Let's remember that God is faithful and wants the best for your son. The Bible tells us in James 5:19-20, Brethren, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
First, we want to address the issue of marijuana use from a biblical perspective. The Bible teaches us to be sober-minded and self-controlled. We are called to honor God with our bodies and not be mastered by anything. We read in Romans 12:1-2, Therefore, I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. In 1 Corinthians 6:12, All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything. The use of marijuana can cloud the mind and hinder judgment, which is not in line with God's will for us.
Let's pray for your son's deliverance from this addiction and for the restoration of his academic performance.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today in Jesus Christ name, lifting up our brother who is struggling with marijuana addiction. Father, we know that this is not your will for his life, and we ask that you break the chains of addiction. Our heart's desire is for him to have a clear mind that can discern your will and live according to it. Galatians 5:1 tells us, Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
We also ask that you restore his academic performance. Give him the focus, determination, and understanding he needs to excel in his studies. Guide him to be a good steward of the mind you have given him.
Lord, we know that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to you. Acts 4:12 tells us, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We pray that he would put his faith and trust in Jesus, knowing that he can be saved, healed, and delivered.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Encourage your son with the words of 2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. Trust in God's power to transform and restore, and continue to stand firm in prayer.
