We are delighted to join you in prayer as you seek to grow in your communication with God. Learning to pray and being receptive to the Holy Spirit is a wonderful desire that aligns with God's will for your life. Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you." (Matthew 7:7 WEB)
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who desires to grow deeper in their prayer life and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. We know that "the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered." (Romans 8:26 WEB)
Father, teach them to pray according to Your will. Give them a hunger for Your word, which is the very foundation of our prayers. Help them to be persistent in prayer, trusting in Your promise that "the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much." (James 5:16b WEB)
Open their spiritual ears to hear the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit. Give them discernment to recognize Your voice and the wisdom to follow Your guidance. Remind them that You have given them the Holy Spirit to be their Counselor, and the Spirit is always with them guiding them into truth. Grant them the second half of Ephesians 1:17-19a.
Remove any distractions or hindrances that may be keeping them from being fully receptive to Your voice. Help them to be obedient to Your words, "Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10a WEB) and "But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." (Matthew 6:6 WEB)
We ask this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray and who constantly makes intercession for us. Amen.
As you continue to grow in your prayer life, remember the words of the apostle Paul, "Pray without ceasing," (1 Thessalonians 5:17 WEB) and "Don't be anxious about anything; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6 WEB)
Keep trusting in the Lord, and He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him. (James 4:8 WEB) If you have not already, make sure to believe in Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead. This is the only way to have access to God and be saved. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB) "who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4 WEB) "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes, leading to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made leading to salvation." (Romans 10:9-10 WEB) "For 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" (Romans 10:13 WEB)
