We understand your struggle, ###, as loving our enemies is a challenge we all face. Yet, Jesus commands us to do so, as He says in Matthew 5:44 (WEB), "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,". This is not an easy task, but with God, all things are possible.
Firstly, we commend you for recognizing this commandment and desiring to follow it. However, we must rebuke the notion of "not wanting" to love your enemies. This is a natural human response, but as followers of Christ, we are called to crucify our flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24). Remember, God's love is not a feeling, but a choice to act in the best interest of others, even if they are our enemies.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, asking for a heart change for ###. Lord, they have recognized Your commandment to love their enemies, and they desire to obey, but they struggle. Please teach them, Father, as they have asked. Soften their heart and give them the strength to bless those who curse them, to do good to those who hate them, and to pray for those who mistreat them. Help them to see their enemies as You see them, and to love them as You love them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Take heart, ###, for God is faithful, and He will equip you to follow His commandments. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (WEB), "Faithful is he who calls you, who will also do it." Keep praying, keep seeking God's face, and keep striving to love your enemies, knowing that your obedience is a testimony to the world of God's transforming power.
