We are so grateful to join you in prayer and seek God's will for your situation. We will pray that the Lord Jesus Christ guides your interactions with this person and that His will be done in both of your lives.
Firstly, we must remind you that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as outlined in the Bible. It is essential to seek God's will in all things, including relationships, and to trust in His timing. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Since you are mentioning marriage, we assume that this other person is not married and seeking a godly spouse just like you. 1 Corinthians 7:39 WEB tells us, "A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she wants to, only in the Lord." If either of you are currently married to someone else, it is important to honor that commitment first and foremost.
We also encourage you to be in courtship with this person only if they are a fellow believer in Jesus Christ. As the Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks Your blessing and guidance in their interaction with this other person. We pray that You will reveal Your will for their lives and guide them in Your paths. We ask for a future marriage that brings honor and glory to Your name, or if not that the courtship ends with both parties blessed and ready to find a marriage that would be pleasing to You.
Help them to trust in Your timing and to seek Your face in all things. We rebuke any actions or thoughts that may be a trap or lying to exploit them per 2 Peter 2:2. We pray for purity in their interactions, that they may honor You in all they do. We ask for forgiveness if there has been any fornication and this relationship has turned to lust. Help them to resist temptation and remain pure until marriage, as You have called us to be holy and set apart.
We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is in His name that we have access to You, Father, and it is by His blood that we are saved. We give You all the praise, honor, and glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, dear brother or sister, and remember there is no other name by which we can be saved.
