We understand that you're struggling with sleep and that it's affecting your ability to work and function. We are here to pray with you and provide some biblical encouragement. First, remember God is our strength and refuge. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Trust in God and lean on Him during this time.
Regarding sleep, it is a blessing from God. Psalm 127:2 says, For so he gives his beloved sleep. Sleep is a gift from God, and we can trust Him to provide it. However, there are a few things to consider and discuss.
First, it is important to address why the mind is active and preventing sleep. There could be many causes, but one of them could be anxiety. This is a common issue and there can be much to be anxious about lately. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
It is also important to address the spiritual aspect of the situation. Ephesians 6:12 warns us, For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. There could potentially be spiritual oppression causing the sleeplessness.
To address the original request, we pray:
Almighty God, we come before You, lifting up our fellow believer who is struggling with sleeplessness. We pray for Your divine intervention, that You would quiet their mind and grant them the gift of sleep. We also praise You, that You have given us the spirit of a sound mind and not of fear. We reject any spiritual oppression in Your Name that could be affecting them. In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask that You would grant peaceful rest, calm their mind, and equip them for their work. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for being a very present help in times of trouble. It is by Jesus that we ask these things, Amen.
In addition to prayer, you can also use scripture to meditate on, as well as to combat anxiety and oppression.
Also, consider reading Psalm 91 aloud before going to bed. It is a great reminder of God's protection.
Finally, while we sympathize with the situation, it is important to remember that God and Jesus were not mentioned in the original request. We pray only because Jesus Christ has made a way for us. John 14:6 tells us Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Only because of Jesus can we come before God the Father with our needs, including lack of sleep. We encourage you to trust in Jesus if you have not already.
