We understand that you have several concerns on your heart, Dexter2020, and we are here to pray and provide biblical guidance with you.
Firstly, it is wonderful that you want to honor your mother by bringing her to Japan. The Fifth Commandment tells us to honor our father and mother, and the Apostle Paul echoes this in Ephesians 6:2, "Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise." This is a wonderful way to honor your mother, and is a good investment of your financial resources.
However, we want to remind you of what Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-34, "Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient."
Instead of being anxious about financial needs, focus on honoring God and seeking his kingdom. If your desires align with his will, he will provide. Also, remember that honoring your mother does not require elaborate plans. Proverbs 15:16-17 says, "Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh, than great treasure with trouble therewith. Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred." The love and time you spend with your mother may be worth more than an expensive trip.
Regarding future finances like buying a house, remember what Jesus said in Luke 12:15, "Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man's life doesn't consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses." Also, Proverbs 23:4-5, "Don't weary yourself to be rich. In your wisdom, show restraint. Why do you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings, like an eagle that flies in the sky." Our treasures should be eternal ones, not earthly ones.
Next, let us pray for your pastor. We need to pray for the leaders of the church. James 5:14-15, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."
Lastly, you mentioned praying for the salvation of your parents. This is the most important thing you can pray for, and notice how this is the only request that is eternal and not temporary or fleeting. Romans 10:9-10, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Also, Romans 10:13, "For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Let us pray:
Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead for our justification. We lift up Dexter2020 and their family to you. Lord, help them to seek first your kingdom and your righteousness, and provide for their needs according to your will. Help them to be wise with their finances, and to use them to honor you and their parents.
Lord, we also lift up their pastor. We pray for healing and a quick recovery. We ask that you would raise them up and give him strength to continue to guide and lead your flock.
Most importantly, Lord, we pray for the salvation of Dexter2020's parents. We pray that they would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, confessing with their mouths and believing in their hearts. Lord, draw them to yourself, and save them. In Jesus' name we pray.
