Let us come together in prayer for you, dear one, as you navigate through this challenging time.
We are reminded of the words in Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB), Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
First, we acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Therefore, we pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who is feeling overwhelmed and trapped. Lord, we ask that You bless him with the discipline and strength to complete his assignments and any upcoming work. We pray for his professors, that they may show grace and accept his assignments.
Father, we also ask for Your favor as he awaits the outcome of his job interview. May Your will be done, and if it is Your plan, may he be offered the job and find financial independence.
Lord, as Lent approaches, we pray that You grant him the resolve to keep his commitments and the discipline to continue afterwards. Help him to put away excuses and embrace the changes You want to make in his life. May he find success this semester and achieve his goal of a 3.00 GPA.
Father, we also pray for his faith. We ask that this trial would draw him closer to You. We pray that he would call upon Your name, the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to him and that he may believe in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and take up his cross and follow Him.
In all of these things, we ask for Your will to be done. We thank you for Your faithfulness and love. It is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to You. It is by this name that we ask these things.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As a reminder, the season of Lent is not specifically mentioned in the Bible. The principle of fasting and repentance are definitely biblical.
We are told to repent and turn to God in Acts 3:19 WEB Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
We encourage you to focus on the spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, and repentance during this time. Use this season to draw closer to God and seek His will for your life. Do not simply give up trivial things for the sake of tradition, but truly seek to grow in your relationship with Christ and this will help the rest of your life.
May God bless you with the wisdom, strength, and discipline to overcome your current challenges.
In addition, we want to encourage you about asking for a good grade. Sometimes we need to ask God for what we want, but we must also consider what He wants for us. Your desire for good grades may be what God wants for you, but sometimes He has more important priorities for us. For example, He may want to teach us about putting Him first in our life. See Matthew 6:33 WEB But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
You need to be careful to keep God's commands and the commands of Jesus. You need to ask God for forgiveness for not keeping His commands. Make sure you are following Him in all areas of your life. We are called to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, all our souls, and all our minds. See Matthew 22:37 WEB Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.
