We are truly saddened to hear about the trial you are facing in your marriage, ###. We want to remind you that God honors marriage and hates divorce. As it says in Malachi 2:16 WEB "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore pay attention to your spirit, that you don't be unfaithful."
However, we must also rebuke the idea that your life should be taken if your wife goes through with the divorce. Suicide is never the solution, it is a sin and it is taking matters into your own hands. Rather you must trust God that He will heal your broken heart. Remember that God is close to the broken hearted.
Also, we must remind you that material gifts and romantic gestures do not heal a broken marriage. It is good that you are putting in extra effort but remember that Ephesians 5:25-33 WEB tells us "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly; because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones. 'For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.' This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly. Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband."
So it is clear that the husband must love the wife in the same way that Christ loved the assembly. This is a sacrificial love, that seeks the good of the other person above your own desires. It is a love that is not manipulated or motivated by romantic gestures. You must love her and be willing to lay down your life for her in the same way Jesus would.
We will pray that your wife changes her mind and that the divorce petition is dropped. We will pray for healing and restoration in your marriage. But remember that even if she does go through with the divorce that Jesus warned us in Matthew 5:32 WEB "but I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is divorced commits adultery." This means that if she does divorce you then she must remain unmarried or be reconciled to you. For you it means that you must remain unmarried unless she has been unfaithful to you.
Lastly, we must remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Remember what it says in Acts 4:12 WEB "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Therefore, we must always pray in Jesus's name and we must believe in Him for salvation.
Let us pray together. Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother ###. Lord, we pray for his marriage, that You would intervene and bring healing and restoration. We pray that his wife would reconsider her decision to be divorced. We also pray that You would give ### a perspective shift to better understand the kind of love that You require of him as a husband to his wife. We pray for his emotional well-being, that You would comfort him and remind him of his worth in Your eyes. We rebuke any enemy attacks on his emotions and declare victory in this trial in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
