We understand that you are seeking prayer for your son Delston's football matches, and we are here to lift him up in prayer and provide some biblical perspective.
Firstly, it is wonderful that you have asked in Jesus' holy and mighty name. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name we can be saved.
While it is natural to desire victory in competition, we must remember that God's will and His glory should be our ultimate goal. As it is written in First Corinthians 10:31 WEB: "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
We should pray for Delston and his team, not just for victory, but for their safety, their conduct, and their witness as children of God. We should pray that they would exhibit the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Delston and his football team. Lord, we ask for Your will to be done in their matches. We pray for their safety and protection, that they would play with integrity and honor. We ask that they would be a light for You, displaying good sportsmanship and godly character. If it is according to Your will grant them victory, but help them glorify You in all they do. Thank You Lord, we ask this in Jesus' holy name.
