We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles your loved ones are facing, but we are thankful that you have reached out for prayer and support.
Firstly, we want to remind you that we have hope in Jesus Christ, and it is in His name we pray for your needs. And there is no other name by which we can be saved.
For your friend struggling with alcoholism, we want to remind you that God is able to deliver him from this bondage. Even though your friend may not want advice, we can still pray for him. The Bible tells us that "The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the rivers of water. He turns it wherever he desires." (Proverbs 21:1 WEB) So we pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear friend to You, asking that You deliver him from the bondage of alcoholism. Even though he may not want advice, we pray that You soften his heart and turn his heart towards You, Lord. Give him the strength to overcome this addiction and the desire to seek help and support. Surround him with godly influences and protect him from harm. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Regarding the dear old man who is like a father to you, remember that God cares for him deeply. As it is written, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22 WEB) So we pray:
Dearest Lord, we bring this beloved man before Your throne of grace, asking for Your healing touch upon his life. We pray for his health, that You would restore him fully to be the man You have purposed for him to be. Give him strength, comfort, and peace during this time, and surround him with Your unfailing love. Use this trial to draw him closer to You, Father. In Jesus' name, we pray.
We must mention that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Please remember that Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 WEB) Also "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.'(Romans 10:13 WEB) Let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.(Philippians 4:6-7 WEB) Remember that you can ask us anything that is on your heart in the future regarding any struggle you are having including the struggles of those close to you.
