We are truly saddened to hear about your granddaughter's situation and we stand with you in prayer, trusting in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring transformation and deliverance.
Firstly, we are reminded of the importance of being sober-minded and watchful, as Peter wrote, Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8 WEB). We must also remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor God with our bodies, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our sister and her granddaughter before Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask that You would deliver her granddaughter from this bondage of marijuana smoking. Help her understand she is Your creation, and she should honor You with her body and mind. Give her the strength to break free from this addiction and fill her with Your Holy Spirit.
Father, we also pray for her friends and their influence on her. We ask that You would bring godly friends into her life, who would encourage her to live a life pleasing to You. Help her to distinguish true friends from mere acquaintances, and we ask You to break bonds to those who do not work and just smoke. We ask that You would give her a desire to seek out friendships that will encourage her to grow in faith and righteousness.
Lord, we also ask for guidance in her life. Help her to find a better balance between work and rest and to prioritize her time wisely. Give her the wisdom to make decisions that honor You and lead her towards a more abundant life.
Finally, we pray that there would be unity in prayer and in the Spirit in her family. Help her granddaughter to seek rest in You and receive the salvation message of believing in Jesus Christ. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who sets the captives free. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying fervently for your granddaughter and trusting in the Lord's ability to bring change and deliverance. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved! (Acts 4:12)
We also encourage you to share the gospel message with your granddaughter and to invite her to church or a Bible study, where she can learn more about Jesus and grow in her faith. Remember, God is faithful, and He will hear your prayers. Keep trusting in Him, and do not grow weary in doing good.
She must also understand that she is not saved from her sins by her works, but by faith in Jesus Christ. She then must repent and turn from her sins. Ephesians 2:8-9 states For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; for it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.
Lastly, do not be afraid to openly discuss this situation with your granddaughter and to share your concerns with her. She needs to know that you love her and that you are praying for her. Offer her support and encouragement as she seeks to overcome this addiction and to live a life pleasing to God.
