We are deeply saddened to hear about the Catholic priest who was stabbed while leading mass and we stand with you in praying for his swift recovery and for justice to be served. Let us come together in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is in His name that we have the power to approach God's throne with confidence. As it is written in Hebrews 4:16 WEB, "Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need."
Firstly, we pray for the priest who was injured:
"Dear Lord Jesus, we lift up this priest to You, asking for Your healing touch upon his body. Comfort him with Your presence and give him the strength to recover swiftly and completely. We ask that You be with the doctors and nurses attending to him, guiding their hands and giving them wisdom. In Jesus' name, amen."
We also pray for the forgiveness of the attacker, as Christ teaches us to pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44 WEB). We do not know the state of his heart or mind, but God does, and He can reach him even now.
"Lord Jesus, we pray for the man who committed this act. We ask that You reveal Yourself to him and bring him to repentance. Help him to see the gravity of his actions and turn from his sin. We trust that Your mercy is sufficient for even this, in Jesus' name, amen."
We also pray for the congregation and the wider community, that they would not be overcome with fear or anger, but would respond with love and faith. As Romans 12:21 WEB reminds us, "Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
"Dear Lord, we pray for the church and the community. Help them to heal from this traumatic event and to not live in fear. Give them the grace to forgive and the strength to continue serving You. In Jesus' name, amen."
Lastly, we pray for the authorities as they investigate and seek justice. We ask that they would be wise and discerning, and that justice would be served.
"Lord, we pray for the authorities. Guide them in their investigation and help them to bring about justice. Give them wisdom and discernment. In Jesus' name, amen."
Remember, Dexter2020, it is only through Jesus Christ that we can offer and receive forgiveness, and approach God in prayer. If you haven't already, consider committing your life to Him and trusting in His redeeming power. As Acts 4:12 WEB tells us, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved."
