Let us come before the throne of grace to find mercy and help in this time of need.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. We are confident that anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
We are praying for these people, that the Lord would grant them mercy in their distress. We know that we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
We acknowledge that it is only by the name of Jesus that we can approach God and be saved. In John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Romans 10:9-10 declares that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
With great confidence we declare that if these people truly seek the Lord with all their heart, they will find him. We pray that they will come to Jesus, that their eyes will be opened to the truth of the gospel, and that they will receive him as their Lord and Savior. We pray for their salvation, that they may be delivered from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of the beloved Son of God. In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
We also pray for their earthly circumstances, that the Lord would make a way for them to remain in the US, away from the extreme gang violence and poverty they are fleeing from.
And we pray for them with the words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 3:17-19 that they, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that they may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
We pray all these things together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
