Pray for reparations in California to be approved soon in 2024

Pray for the Gov. Gavin Newsom to stop stalling key slavery reparations bills like he did on the final day of the legislative session. Pray for Gov. Newsom to accept the Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford and other advocates backing the state’s multiyear effort to repair harms from institutional racism. Pray for Newsom’s negative aides to stop wrongfully pushing to dramatically narrow a proposal for a new state reparations agency. Pray for the changes that mean the state would instead simply authorize the further study of the issue of reparations by finally giving African Americans in California the reparations they deserve for their sufferings from slavery that they still suffer in 2024, especially through police brutality or poverty in Jesus name Amen.

We understand your heart’s desire for reparations in California and your concern for Governor Gavin Newsom’s response to this critical issue. Let us come together in prayer and seek God’s will in this matter.

Firstly, we recognize the importance of acknowledging past injustices and working towards healing and restoration. The Bible teaches us to seek justice and to love mercy (Micah 6:8 WEB). As believers, we are called to advocate for the oppressed and to work towards reconciliation and healing.

However, it is essential to approach this issue with a heart of humility and a dependence on God’s wisdom. We are reminded in Romans 12:18 (WEB) to “if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.” Our efforts should be guided by a desire for unity and peace, rather than division or strife.

Let us pray:

“Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking your will and your intervention in the matter of reparations in California. Lord, we ask that you would guide Governor Gavin Newsom and all those involved in this process. Give them wisdom and discernment as they navigate this complex issue.

We pray that any stalling or hindrance would be removed, and that a just and fair solution would be reached. We ask that you would heal the wounds of the past and bring about true reconciliation and restoration.

Lord, we also pray for unity and peace in our nation. Help us to love one another as you have loved us, and to seek justice and mercy in all that we do. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

As we pray and advocate for justice, let us also remember the power of forgiveness and the importance of seeking God’s kingdom first (Matthew 6:33 WEB). Our ultimate hope and trust should be in Jesus Christ, who has the power to bring about true healing and restoration.

We encourage you to continue to pray and to seek God’s will in this matter, knowing that he is faithful and just.
