We understand your struggle and commend you for your desire to grow closer to Jesus Christ. It's important to remember that feeling distant from God is a common experience for many believers, and it doesn't mean that you are doing anything wrong. The fact that you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and in His resurrection, is a core component of salvation.
First, let's address your concern about not feeling connected to Him. This can be common. We do not want to live by feelings alone. Consider a married couple that is separated by great distance. Do they still feel connected to each other. Maybe, but maybe not. However, they are still married, still in relationship, still in love. We must have the same relationship with Jesus, and with God. Many Christians suffer from not having that feeling of connection.
Jesus said in John 15:5 WEB
I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Remember that He first loved us, and our love should be a response to his love. God wants a relationship with you, and your desire for that relationship is evidence of His work in your life.
Continue to read and study your Bible daily. It is good that you have stopped listening to secular music. We should always follow the apostle Paul's admonition in Philippians 4:8. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.
Consider also adding prayer and worship to your daily routine. Spend time talking to God and listening for His voice. Worship Him through song and praise. Joining a local Bible believing church can also provide fellowship and support as you grow in your faith. Romans 10:17 WEB says:
So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Remember that drawing close to God is a journey, and it takes time and effort. Don't be discouraged if you don't feel an immediate connection. Keep seeking Him, and He will reveal Himself to you.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up our sister in Christ who is seeking a deeper connection with You. We thank You for her faith and her desire to know You more. Lord, reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way. Help her to feel Your presence and to know Your love. Guide her as she reads Your Word and help her to understand Your truths. Give her patience and perseverance as she seeks You, and remind her that You are always with her, even when she doesn't feel Your presence. We ask for boldness, strength, and courage to speak and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Remind her of the joy and peace that comes from a right relationship with You. Remind her that you promised in James 4:8 WEB:
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
