We are here with you, Richard101, to lift Nancy up in prayer and to support her in the name of Jesus Christ. It's encouraging to see that you've acknowledged the power of Jesus' name in your request, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and salvation. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Nancy's struggle with anxiety, worry, and alcohol are not uncommon, but they are serious issues that need to be addressed with spiritual strength and courage. We know that God's perfect love casts out fear, as stated in 1 John 4:18 WEB: "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment, and he who fears is not made perfect in love."
First, let us address the issue of alcohol. The Bible warns against drunkenness and strong drink. 1 Corinthians 6:10 WEB: "nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God." We pray that Nancy seeks help to overcome this challenge, and we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus' name. Remember, God is faithful to provide a way out of temptation, as promised in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB: "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Regarding anxiety and worry, we know that our God commands us to cast our anxieties upon Him, as written in 1 Peter 5:7 WEB: "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." We pray that Nancy finds comfort and strength in knowing that God loves her and cares for her deeply. We stand together in prayer for Nancy to find her strength in God and not in alcohol. Alcohol can cloud our judgment and cause our minds to be foggy. We need a clear mind to draw close to God and hear His voice. Alcohol can be a form of idolatry where we turn to alcohol for a feeling of relaxation or coping mechanism.
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ to lift Nancy up in prayer. Lord, You know her struggles and the challenges she faces with anxiety, worry, and alcohol. We ask, Father, that You would strengthen her in her inner being by the power of Your Holy Spirit, as stated in Ephesians 3:16 WEB. Help her to cast her anxieties upon You, trusting that You care for her. Break the chains of addiction in her life, and help her to find her refuge and strength in You alone. Surround her with Your perfect love, and help her to overcome her fears and worries. Guide her steps and lead her in the path of righteousness for Your name's sake. We praise You and thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
