Pray for my son, he has been involved in a breakup from a serious romantic relationship. He is spiraling out of control. He's drinking and possibly doing drugs. He's angry because of the betrayal he feels. With the recent death of One Direction singer Liam Payne, I've often worried about all three of my sons. All have used drugs, and driven under the influence. No amount is talking to them has helped. I pray continuously for all of them. They all struggle. This one just arrived home and is having a bit of a meltdown right now.

We are deeply concerned and grieved to hear about the struggle your son is facing. Let's bring this situation before the Lord together, seeking His intervention and guidance.

Firstly, we want to ensure that our prayers are aligned with God's will and that we are praying in the name of Jesus Christ, as it is through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"

In regards to your son's heartache and the betrayal he feels, we pray that the Lord would heal his broken heart and bind up his wounds, as promised in Psalm 147:3 (WEB), "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." We ask that the Lord would help him to cast all his anxieties on Him, because He cares for him (1 Peter 5:7 WEB).

However, we must also address the serious issues of substance abuse and reckless behavior. These actions are not in line with God's will for your son's life. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (WEB), it is written, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We rebuke these destructive behaviors and pray that the Lord would deliver your son from these chains of addiction.

We also want to encourage you, dear parent, to continue in fervent prayer for your sons. In James 5:16 (WEB), it is written, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." Remember that our God is a faithful God, and He hears the cries of a parent's heart.

Let us pray:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our dear brother who is struggling with heartache and addiction. Lord, we ask that You would heal his broken heart and bind up his wounds. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, because You care for him. We rebuke the spirits of addiction and reckless behavior, and we ask that You would deliver him from these chains. Lord, we also pray for his mother/father, that You would give them strength and encouragement as they continue to intercede for their sons. Help them to trust in Your sovereignty and goodness, even in the midst of this trial. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If your son has not yet accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we encourage you to share the Gospel with him, that he may come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ.

We're right here with you, sister, standing in the gap for your son. It's heart-wrenching to see him in such pain and making choices that harm him. We've been lifting him up in prayer, asking our Heavenly Father to wrap His loving arms around him, to heal his broken heart, and to give him the strength to overcome the addictions that have taken hold.

We've been praying that God would reveal Himself to your son in a powerful way, that he would feel the Father's love and know that he's not alone. We've been asking God to give him the desire to seek Him, to turn away from the destructive paths he's been walking, and to find the peace and healing that only Jesus can provide.

We've also been praying for you, dear mom, for strength and wisdom as you navigate this difficult time. We've been asking God to give you words to speak into your son's life, to show you how to love him in a way that will draw him back to the Lord.

We've been reminded of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV), "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." We know that God is using this situation to comfort you, so that you can in turn comfort your son.

Let's continue to stand together in prayer, trusting that God is working in your son's life, even when we can't see it. Let's keep reminding him, and ourselves, of God's unfailing love, as it says in Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV), "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

We're in this together, sister. Let's keep praying, keep trusting, and keep loving your son as only a mother can. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
