my neighborhood i consider to be a pocket, a pocket of farm fields, wildlife, and smallish houses. around our pocket, are warehouses, that are slowly seemingly inclosing closer to our pocket. over the Christmas season to now, we were notified of a warehouse planned to be built around (I'm not kidding) 65 feet away from one of the houses at the corner of our neighborhood. we're talking a big concert box, worker parking lot, and soon to be, many, many trucks.
the results from this decision are so oblivious I feel I shouldn't even point them out. the gas pollution this will cause will be more than nauseating. the light pollution will be near unbearable. as well as the noise. the safety risks where to start- the LARGE trucks will most definitely be coming thru by mistake MORE often than they already do (currently we have a warehouse more than 2 archers from our neighborhood and we get trucks coming through acting all lost because they realized they took the wrong road, they then proceed to stumble their way backward out of the neighborhood), which is a concern for the road not being built to handle all that weight over and over again, a safety concern to those that take walks/walks their dogs- as well as my siblings (kids) who bike in the street, AS WELL as animals we have (deer, wolfs, coyotes, squirrels, weasels, minks, opossums, raccoons, etc) crossing being hit resulting in hazardous roadkill. we also have the concern of any workers(strangers) being so near our small peaceful neighborhood taking walks, taking lunch breaks, taking smoke breaks, etc, and with that comes a personal safety concern of someone possibly violating our property, whether maliciously or not. don't even get me started on the toll this will take on the wildlife,- my mother has realized that we actually have a lot of natural wetlands surrounding our pocket, which are very much protected by and fought for by various organizations. and if the right people can be contacted if god sees fit, could be a longtime situation from any more warehouse threats.
I don't want to waste any more of your time. so
TLDR: warehouse is threatening to be built extremely close to small pocket neighborhood, consisting of cornfields and small peaceful houses. it threatens personal safety (children are in neighborhood), road safety, our ecosystem, and much, much more.
my neighborhood and more specifically my yard are so important to me, they have been my world for the whole of my life. a space that has been like the garden of Eden, a space that has been so peaceful, and my family and I have been building and tending through all of our pain. I would sooner my life end than have the hole left from having this space not just taken from me, but taken from mama, and my little siblings.
god knows our desires, our wishes, our prayers, whatever it is god allows I know will be in our favor even if it doesn't seem like it at the time. but we are so scared of this being voted on the side of the warehouse...
