We understand that you are going through a tremendously difficult time, and we are here to support you in prayer and truth. First, we want to remind you that God is always with you, even in the darkest times. As it says in Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for Yahweh your God goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.
Your feelings of negativity, depression, bitterness, resentment, and anger are valid, but they are not God's will for your life. These emotions can consume us and turn us into someone we do not want to be, but God offers a way out. In Proverbs 15:1 WEB, it says but a gentle answer turns away wrath. And 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
We must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12 WEB. To overcome these feelings, we need to put on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6:13-18. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
It is also crucial to remember that we do not find our identity in our circumstances or emotions, but in Christ. As it says in Galatians 2:20 WEB, I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. And in Romans 8:37-39 WEB, No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Now, let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear brother in Christ who is struggling with negativity, depression, and feelings of anger and resentment. We know that these emotions are not from You, Father, and we ask that You help him overcome these struggles once and for all.
Help him to put on the full armor of God, to stand firm against the schemes of the devil, and to remember that his identity is in Christ alone. Help him to be strong and courageous, knowing that You are always with him, and that You will never fail him nor forsake him.
Help him to remember the promises of Romans 8:28 WEB, that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Help him to find joy in You, Father, and to be a light to those around him.
Help him to forgive those who have hurt him, as it says in Ephesians 4:32 WEB, And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Help him to have confidence, love, and compassion for others, and to be free from anger, jealousy, resentment, rage, and hopelessness.
We ask all of these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is in His name that we pray. Amen.
