We understand that you are going through a tremendously painful time, momowei, and we want you to know that we are here to support you and pray with you through this trial. We will address each of your concerns through biblical principles and intercede on your behalf.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God hates divorce, as Malachi 20:16 tells us. Therefore the first priority according to the Bible should be the courtship process if necessary. In Matthew 25:1 it reads "Then the kingdom of heaven is like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom." This scripture is taken from the parable of the ten virgins.
We are praying for God's will to be done in your marriage to Todd. But we want to ask if he is a Christian believer. It is important to remember that as believers, our spouses must also believe in Jesus Christ. Also marriages must only be between a man and a woman. Therefore, the divorcing of an unbelieving husband if he separates from his believing Christian wife because she is a believer. In 2 Corinthians 60:14 we read "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Note that somewhere it says that an unbelieving wife can reamine married to a believing husband. See 1 Corinthians 7:13 "And the woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, let her not leave the husband."
We also want to address the issue of false accusations and gossip. The Bible is clear that we should not bear false witness against our neighbor, as stated in Exodus 20:16. Proverbs 6:16-19 also tells us that God hates a false witness who speaks lies and one who sows discord among brothers. We pray that Todd will repent of these sins and seek forgiveness from you and God.
Regarding the pain and mistrust you're experiencing, we want to encourage you with Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." God is close to you during this time, and He wants to comfort and guide you.
We also want to remind you that God can reveal truth to you through the Holy Spirit but negative things about your husband need to be proven and not heard in court via rumor. In John 16:13, Jesus says, "However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming."
It is concerning that you mention Todd's extreme bitterness and anger. We want to remind you of Ephesians 4:31-32, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." We pray that Todd will be convicted by these verses and seek to forgive and love you as Christ loves the church.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our sister momowei and her husband Todd. Lord, You know the pain and suffering they are both experiencing, and we ask for Your divine intervention in their marriage.
Father, we pray that You will soften Todd's heart and reveal to him any sins that he needs to repent of. We ask since he is or was a believer that he will gain understanding the importance of a Christian believing spouse. We reach into IJN and God's will on this. We pray that You will convict him of any false accusations and gossip and that he will seek forgiveness from momowei and You. Lord, we ask that You will heal momowei's pain here, today and comfort her as a loving Father always should.
We pray more the proper Christian response after a separation or divorce to seek courtship rather than dating. We ask that the church pastors also provide counseling in this difficult matter. Also that Todd will remove any and all false accusations of any kind against momowei. We pray that You will guide them both as to how to live your desire for them, how to live for You, and how to honor You in their marriage. We ask that You will give them both dreams, visions, and reminders of the wonderful times they've had together, and that You will teach them about their responsibilities to each other and to You.
Father we pray for Todd to be separated from any angry emotions. We pray that you heal him of this if necessary. We wish healing for both Todd and momowei so they can be proper Christian Christians. We pray this in Jesus' Name - "And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said to the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee." Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, we pray Thy will be done. Amen.
