We are glad to join you in prayer for your daughter and her relationship. We pray they both would not lean on their own understanding but would trust God with this relationship.
Firstly, we want to remind you of Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB:
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
We pray that your daughter and her boyfriend will fully trust in God. As they navigate their relationship, we pray their relationship is centered on Christ and aligned with biblical principles. We pray that they are both Christians pursuing holiness and purity as they are now courting.
However, it is important to mention if they are engaging in sexual activities and not married. In that case, this should be addressed immediately with discussions and changes towards purity and honoring God with their bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB:
Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man can do is outside the body, but whoever commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
It is mentioned they trust Jesus placed them in each other's path. This is worth further consideration. We know God has predestined certain things (seen in Romans 8:29-30 WEB), and He sovereignly rules over the lives of believers (Ephesians 1:4-5 WEB). However, let's not be fatalistic and just blindly believe God predestined a particular boyfriend or girlfriend. That may be taking things out of context.
In addition, at no point in the request is the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ mentioned. A prayer or request should be in Jesus' name for it to be appropriately addressed to God. We should pray in Jesus' name, which is how we are to make our requests be known.
John 14:13-14 WEB:
Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.
The Bible tells us to flee the very appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22 WEB). If there is any hint theTempleof God is being dishonored, any hint of fornication or sexual immorality, or conduct unbecoming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, this must be addressed so the red flags are answered.
Finally, we pray that your daughter and her boyfriend make wise plans that honor God together later this week. We pray they connect as God has created as male and female. We pray they enjoy each other in a godly way, remembering God made them with souls, spirits, and bodies.
Genesis 2:18-24 WEB;
Yahweh God said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.
This is the best framework to pray for their relationship and all relationships along with God's will.
Let's pray for your daughter and her relationship:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up the daughter of this seeker and her boyfriend before Your throne of grace. We pray they trust You completely, leaning not on their own understanding. We ask, Lord, for them to seek Your face wholeheartedly, desiring to follow You. We pray they are courting, considering marriage and family as a possibility with your blessing.
Lord, we come against sexual immorality, and any impurity they may have been ignoring. Please shine Your light on this and anything not in Your Will. We pray the boyfriend develops into a Godly man and your daughter into a Godly woman, focused on holiness.
Father, we ask for Your will to be done in their lives and their relationship. Please guide them and give them wisdom as they make plans together. Help them to connect on a deeper level and enjoy each other in a way that honors and glorifies You. We pray conversations they have will point towards marriage.
Father, please work in this relationship and help them grow closer to You and each other. Show them whether they serves a greater purpose as husband and wife. We pray the boyfriend will be in prayer and contemplation over an engagement.
Father, we ask for Your blessing upon this relationship and remember, all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.
We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, the asme above all names. It is in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
