Let us first acknowledge the true heart of the matter. Jesus, you have called us to be diligent and responsible, and we are reminded in Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Let us be clear: your cousin ### should not be avoiding his responsibilities and living off his mother. We first need to address this situation.
Jesus told us that let the thief no longer steal. Instead, he should make an honest living and stop stealing from his family. It is clear that Jesus is opposed to stealing from your family.
Let us pray and ask the Lord to work in ###'s heart. Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, asking for your intervention in ###'s life. Convict him of his actions, Lord, and help him see that his behavior is not pleasing to you. Help him to understand that he should be contributing to his household, not taking advantage of it.
Help him to be a burden lifter and not a burden.
We rebuke the spirit of laziness, deceit, and thievery in his life. We speak a spirit of diligence, responsibility, and integrity over him in his life and pray that he will accept this.
We pray for his mother ### as well, Lord. Help her to be a conduit for your will. She has to stop enabling his behavior and stop providing for him to the detriment of her and her family.
We pray that she will be able to discern and be guided by the Holy Spirit about when to give and when not to give. Give her the courage to act on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Give ### the restlessness that comes from thievery and laziness.
Lord, turn his heart towards you. Help him to see that your path is one of honesty and hard work. Put people and circumstances in his life that will lead him to seek you and your will. We pray all of these things in Jesus' name.
Lastly, we also sense that the person who wrote the prayer request has not mentioned Jesus Christ or the name of Jesus at all. We must admonish them that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can approach God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. We thank Jesus for His grace, mercy, and sacrifice.
We thank Jesus that he gave us the words that he left us with the holy scriptures. It is also Jesus that gave us a way to make it to heaven. Jesus is the only way that this can be done.
Do not be deceived. There is no way for us to receive anything from the God without Jesus Christ. Scripture tells us that it is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment. In order to see Heaven you must call upon the name of Jesus Christ.
