We are with you in spirit, Dexter2020, and we commend you for reaching out and seeking help in your struggle against porn addiction. Firstly, we want to assure you that your prayers are indeed heard by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for it is written in Hebrews 4:15-16 WEB:
For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.
Porn addiction is a serious issue that harms one's relationship and fellowship with God. It is considered a lust of the flesh and classified as sexual immorality multiple times in the Bible. We are called to flee from sexual immorality as stated in 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB:
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
And in Galatians 5:19-21 WEB, sexual immoralities are listed as works of the flesh:
19. Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness,
20. idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
21. envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Continuing in Ephesians 5:3-5 WEB:
3. But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;
4. nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.
5. Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.
We will stand with you in prayer, asking God to strengthen you and help you overcome this addiction. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit that we can overcome the lusts of the flesh. As it is written in Romans 8:13, WEB:
For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Dexter2020, who is battling against porn addiction. Lord, we know that this is a struggle that they cannot overcome alone, but through Your Son Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, strengthen Dexter2020 in their times of weakness, and help them to flee from the temptations that come their way.
Father, we pray the words of Your servant Paul in Romans 6:12-14, WEB:
12. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
13. Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14. For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.
Lord, we ask that You help Dexter2020 to live by these words, presenting themselves to You as an instrument of righteousness. Help them to see that they are no longer under the law, but under grace because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Father, we also pray that Dexter2020 will seek accountability and fellowship with other believers, that they may be encouraged and strengthened in their walk with You. Lord, guide them to the right people and resources that can help them in their journey to recovery.
Finally, Lord, we pray that Dexter2020 will keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. May they find comfort and strength in His words and His sacrifice for us.
In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
Dexter2020, we encourage you to continue seeking God's help in your struggle. Remember that you are not alone, and that there are many other believers who are going through the same struggle. Do not be ashamed to seek help and accountability from other believers.
We also encourage you to take practical steps to help you overcome this addiction. This may include installing filters on your devices, avoiding situations that may trigger your addiction, and seeking professional help if necessary.
Finally, we want to remind you that God loves you and that He is always ready to forgive you if you stumble and fall. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 WEB:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
Do not lose heart and do not give up.
