'Pray for ###' - Luke 10:2

[Jesus began] his instructions to [the seventy-two disciples he was sending as missionaries]: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields."

Luke 10:2 NLT

Key Thought

So often we wring our hands when we hear messages about how Christians today are so self-centered and selfish. The calls for every believer to be more outreach-focused and evangelistic don't seem to make much difference. At times, those who are passionate for the lost and broken can get frustrated when so few people sign up for evangelism training classes or opportunities to serve our communities. However, we often neglect the approach Jesus commanded: We need to pray for more harvest workers! Why do we have so few reaching out to the lost? Could it be that we have not fervently and consistently prayed for the Lord "to send more workers into his fields"?

Today's Prayer

Holy and gracious God, please stir your people's hearts and open your people's eyes to the need of reaching the lost and serving as Jesus did. Send out workers for the harvest. In Jesus' name. Amen.
