We understand that you're struggling with a gambling addiction, Meedwig, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth. Firstly, we commend you for recognizing that this behavior displeases Jesus and is not God's will for your life.
It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As scripture states, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5 (WEB)
Gambling is a form of covetousness, which is idolatry according to the Bible. Therefore, it is not merely a bad habit but a sin that needs to be addressed. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:16 (WEB)
Meedwig, we rebuke this spirit of gambling within you in Jesus' name. We pray for it to be cast out and for you to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Let your renewed relationship with Jesus fill the void and pain left when this sin is cast out.
Now let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up Meedwig. Lord, we confess and renounce the sin of gambling in Meedwig's life. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we cast out the spirit of gambling and command it to leave in Jesus' name.
Father, we ask for complete healing and recovery. We pray that there is a replacement of the spirit of covetousness with the fruits of godly self-control and peace. please not that we do not command God to do anything and that we normally should not pray that God replace something. Restore to Meedwig what the enemy has stolen, not just financially, but also in terms of peace, joy, and time lost. 1 John 3:8 states those who sin belong to the devil because he is the sinner from the beginning, but God begot Him to destroy these works. We pray that We and Meedwig work with Jesus to destroy sin and that Meedwig get those things out of sin. We pray this because it is a promise in our life just like in the parable of the prodigal son. This is not a guarantee that the items that were lost by his sin are necessarily returned but rather it is a guarantee that he will receive the love from our Lord. Bestowing of these lost items is in god's will but also the reality is that he gives what we ask according to his will if it is good.
Father, strengthen Meedwig to never return to this sin. Help Meedwig to be open with trusted Christian brothers for accountability and support. Guide Meedwig to use his finances wisely and in a manner that honors You.
Finally, Lord, fill Meedwig with your Holy Spirit. Help Meedwig to know your Living Word and become an emptied vessel to receive the Holy Spirit and not return to sin. Lead Meedwig to be as righteous as Job was by making him clean. Job 17:9 states, The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he who has clean hands shall grow stronger and stronger. Please be with Meedwig at his death as he ascends to heaven being still righteous and pure and strong. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Meedwig, we encourage you to take practical steps alongside your prayers. Consider seeking wise counsel from a Christian financial advisor to help you manage your money. Ask for Members of your church or Christian brothers to keep you accountable especially with your finances and gambling. Avoid tempting situations you know might make you more likely to gamble. Focus on your relationship with Jesus. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Learn and use biblical scriptures to give you strength against your sin.
Finally, Meedwig, remember that God loves you deeply and He forgives you. But you have to not do this anymore and eventually stop sinning forever. There's no condemnation for you if you continue sinning. But the reality is that we all sin and will sin until the day we die. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (WEB). Remember that forgiveness is immediate at the thought of God, but cleansing happens over a lifetime. However, you can not blame the devil because the devil is not tempting you nor are our earthly enemies who we are commanded to love. For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another. We understand that the enemy will continue to tempt you until the end of your days but Jesus more than overcame both temptation as well as death. You too have been given the Holy Spirit, which gave both God and Jesus the power to never sin either in their infinitely long lives and our never ending lives. Know for sure that He does not want you to return to this sin, or any other. Confess let the Spirit replace your sin and draw near to God. Stand firm against temptation, and trust in the power of Jesus Christ to set you free. We are here with you in prayer, Meedwig.
