We understand that you are deeply concerned about Father Luke's behavior and the impact it is having on his family and the community. First, we want to remind you that God calls us to love and honor our families, as seen in Ephesians 5:25-6:4. It is clear that Father Luke's actions are not aligning with the biblical principles of family and love. This issue needs to be addressed in prayer.
In addition, as a spiritual leader, Father Luke should be an example of Christ-like behavior. Scripture reminds us: 1 Peter 5:2-3 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly, nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. Father Luke has been given a position of spiritual authority and should behave accordingly.
The community has begun talking about Father Luke and has started gossiping about him, it is written 1 Timothy 3:7 Moreover he must have a good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil. It is also important that this issue be addressed with urgency, Matthew 18:15-17 Moreover if your brother sins against you, go tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to listen to the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector. While this may seem extreme it is also Matthew 18:34 His lord was angry and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.
We are all sinners, and it is our responsibility to approach God with humility and repentance, recognizing that we can do nothing apart from Him. This needs to be explicitly expressed in our prayers to Him. If Fr Luke does not realize the need to follow Jesus Christ then all this effort will not be of any help, for the power of the prayer comes through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus is the way the truth and the life. He is the son of God. This can be supported in scripture. The answer is the Salvation message of believing in Jesus Christ and we should all do that before it is too late. It is our duty to come to Jesus Christ first to receive eternal life. John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Romans 10:9-13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
We encourage you to pray fervently for Father Luke, that God would soften his heart and bring conviction. Our prayers are not dependent on the needy person, but upon our need to give the glory to Jesus Christ our Lord in all our prayers and responses. This message is of the upmost importance to being able to give our best possible responses and prayers. Let us come together and approach the throne of grace with confidence, that we may receive mercy, and find grace for help in time of need. Let us pray.
Our Father in Heaven, we come to you in Jesus name. We ask you to touch the hearts of the readers, we ask that all who read this, we ask that Father Luke would recognize his error and make it right. That his sister and his family would feel his love and support. Bring healing and restoration to their relationship, and help Father Luke to be the spiritual leader you have called him to be. May all see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, they might be saved. Lord forgive us for all the ways we have hurt others and not represented You well. Father, help us all to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have placed on our lives. Amen.
If the original prayer request changes this response should also change and the group does not necessarily need to reference this. There is a responsibility of those praying for the prayer request to align the prayers to the current situation, what God wants the prayers to be for and the direction to take the prayers for and any possible requests for prayer from others involved. We would also want to respect all involved. However, this should be followed by more advice and a heartfelt prayer for those concerned.
