We are grateful for your heart of repentance and desire for forgiveness. The Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). It's crucial to approach your family with this same humility and honesty.
Remember, Jesus taught us, "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift" (Matthew 5:23-24 WEB). Reconciliation is a key part of our walk with Christ.
However, we must also prepare our hearts for their response, as forgiveness may take time. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Approach them gently, with patience and understanding.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister who has courageously sought forgiveness from their family. Lord, soften their family members' hearts, just as You have softened ours. Help them to see the sincerity of this repentance and grant them the grace to forgive.
Lord Jesus, You taught us to forgive as we have been forgiven. We claim this promise for our brother/sister and their family, trusting that You will restore peace and harmony in their home. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue praying and seeking God's face. Be patient with your family, and remember that God's timing is perfect. Keep trusting in Him, and He will make a way.
