We are truly sorry to hear about your mother's situation, and we want to offer our heartfelt prayers and support during this difficult time. However, it is crucial to understand that the Bible teaches that we are to pray to God alone through Jesus Christ, and not to or for the deceased. In Deuteronomy 18:10-11 WEB it says "There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer." A necromancer is defined as someone who conjures or speaks to the dead. We should not do this. We cannot change your mother's eternal destination. We can pray for those who are living that they would come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. We are warned in Ecclesiastes 9:5 WEB "For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten."
Let's pray for you and your family during this time of loss.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is facing the imminent loss of their beloved mother. We pray that You would comfort them and their family during this time of sorrow and grief. Help them to trust in Your goodness and Your plan, even in the midst of this difficult situation.
Father, we also pray for the living relatives and friends who are left behind. We ask that You would draw them closer to You, and that they would come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ if they do not know Him already. We pray that this situation would be an opportunity for them to reflect on their own lives and their need for a Savior.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Take comfort in the words of Jesus in John 11:25-26 WEB, "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die.’”
Be assured that our prayers are with you and your family during this time.
