We understand your concern and are led to pray for and speak truth into this situation. First, we must acknowledge that dwelling on the past and slandering others is not from God. The Bible tells us in Philippians 3:13-14 WEB, "Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having laid hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
It is clear that God wants us to move forward and not remain stuck in the past. Also, in Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
We must forgive as we have been forgiven and put away slander and bitterness. Let's pray for Californians, that they may forgive and move forward, and that any slander or bitterness would be put to rest.
Lord Jesus, we lift up Californians to you, especially those who are dwelling on the past and slandering innocent Christians. We pray that they would be convicted by your Spirit and released from the bondage of unforgiveness and bitterness. We pray that you would give them a spirit of forgiveness and peace, that they may move forward and walk in your will for their lives. We ask that you would silence any slander and protect your children from false accusations. We ask this all in your mighty name, Jesus. Amen.
We encourage everyone to remember that God is a God of forgiveness and second chances. He wants us to live in freedom and not be chained to the past. We must remember to forgive as we have been forgiven and to live in love and unity, as Christ intended for his Church. As James explains, "the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna." So we must be careful to control our tongues and speak with love and kindness, not slander or bitterness. We rebuke the idea that anyone should dwell on the past. Leave the past to Gods mercy. We rebuke slander and gossip. Do not bring a brother or sister to court.
