We understand your concern for Brian Phe and his desire to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. Let us pray and consider this situation together, guided by the Word of God.
Firstly, we commend Brian's passion for serving the Lord and bringing others to Christ. This is indeed a noble and godly pursuit. However, we must also address some points with biblical wisdom.
While the Apostle Paul did indeed remain single and advocated the benefits of singleness for ministry (1 Corinthians 7:7-8, 32-35 WEB), he also made it clear that both marriage and singleness are gifts from God, and neither should be viewed as superior to the other. Each person should follow the path that God has called them to (1 Corinthians 7:17 WEB).
However, we must also address the issue of idolatry. If Brian is viewing singleness or even service to God as a means to avoid stress or difficulties, he may be at risk of making an idol out of his singleness, much like he did with veganism. We must remember that our trust and focus should be on God alone, and not on our marital status or any other condition (Exodus 20:3 WEB).
Moreover, while mental health concerns are valid and should be taken seriously, we must also remember that God can bring healing and strength. It is not for us to definitively say that marriage is not suitable for Brian. Instead, we should pray for God's will to be done in his life, trusting that God knows what is best for him (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up Brian Phe to you. We thank you for his heart to serve you and bring others to Christ. Lord, we pray that you would guide him in your will for his life. If it is your will for him to remain single for service, then strengthen him in that path. But if it is your will for him to marry, then prepare him and his future spouse for a godly union that would also serve to bring glory to your name.
Lord, we also pray for Brian's mental health. We ask for your healing and peace in his life. Help him to trust in you more each day, knowing that you are his strength and refuge (Psalm 46:1 WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage Brian to continue his passion for ministry, but also to remain open to God's leading in all areas of his life, including relationships. We also encourage him to seek professional help for his mental health concerns.
