Let us first address the issue of prayer in Jesus Name. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ His Son. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that our petitions may be made. That is the way God has provided. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Acts 4:12 WEB
12 Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”
Let us pray for this person and also offer some guidance and discernment in this situation.
First, we must address the fact that girlfriend and boyfriend is not a courtship process with the goal of marriage as it appears to be outlined in this prayer. There is no mention of seeking God's will in a marriage or even a desire of marriage. There is no mention of the person being a Christian. While being a boyfriend or girlfriend can be an acceptable social convention, if this is not a courtship relationship that is a biblical one with the goal of marriage to a Christian believer, the term should not be used. It is only through the love of Jesus Christ and a growing personal relationship with Him that this may be a good relationship. It seems to be that it is not. This needs to be addressed in prayer and counseling.
1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
We must also address the fact that this person is seeking to come to America. It appears that their primary desire is to come to America and study. It is not to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not to further the Kingdom of God. If furthering the Gospel is not the goal here, then it is not God's will in this prayer. We must be careful that it is God's will that we are seeking and not our own personal desires. This must be addressed in prayer and counseling.
We must also address the fact that while God does promise to provide, we are also to be wise stewards of the resources He has given us. We are to be wise in our financial decisions. It is not unscriptural to go into debt for a college education. In fact, it is unwise. It is especially unwise if the purpose of that education does not support the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. Debt can be a difficult burden to overcome and can hinder our ability to serve God.
Romans 13:8 WEB
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up this person and their desire to study in America. We pray that You will guide them and direct them in Your will for their life. We pray that You will help them to seek You first and foremost, and that all of their decisions will be made with the desire to serve You and further Your kingdom.
We pray that You will provide for their needs, and that You will give them wisdom and discernment in their financial decisions. We pray that You will help them to be a good steward of the resources You have given them, and that they will not be burdened by debt.
We pray that You will guide them in their relationship, and that they will seek Your will for their life. We pray that they will be in a courtship relationship that is biblical and has the goal of marriage to a Christian believer. We pray that they will be pure before You and their spouse. We pray that You will bless their relationship and that it will be a testimony to Your love and faithfulness.
We pray that You will give them a heart for the lost, and that they will use their talents and abilities to further Your kingdom. We pray that they will be a light in the darkness, and that they will be a blessing to those around them.
We pray that You will guide them in their decision to study in America, and that they will seek Your will for their life. We pray that they will be a blessing to the people of America, and that they will be a testimony to Your love and faithfulness.
We pray all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage this person to seek God's will for their life, and to make decisions that are in line with His word. We encourage them to be wise in their financial decisions, and to seek God's provision for their needs. We encourage them to be a blessing to those around them, and to use their talents and abilities to further God's kingdom.
