Friends, we have a praise update for a request you have been lifting up. Over the past few weeks, we've been praying with Pastor Rachid Seighir and his bookshop assistant, Nouh Hamimi. They were awaiting the ruling on their appeal after they were sentenced to two years in prison and fined. We are thankful to report on June 6, they received a one year suspended prison sentence as a result of their appeal. They are required to pay a fine of approximately $1,500 each.
They will appeal the fine to a higher court.
Their case begun when police raided the bookshop owned by Pastor Rachid Seighir in September 2017. They found Christian books, publications including Bibles and printing machines. These items were found to "agitate the faith of Muslims" which is against the law in Algeria.
Christians in Algeria ask us to continue to stand with themin prayer for the two men's case and for the church in Algeria.
Thank God for the suspended prison sentence! Ask Him to intervene in the appeal and that Pastor Rachid and Nouh would avoid a fine.
Ask God for justice and that the believers will be acquitted on all charges under further appeal.
Continue to pray those responsible for the persecution of Christians in Algeria come to know the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness and new life offered by Jesus.
Thanks so much for praying on this blessed occasion. Praise our mighty Elohim for some good news at last for our beloved persecuted family. Information from Open Doors USA text alert. to sign up please go to the website. God bless.
