We understand that you're going through a tremendously difficult time, Tralothen, and we want to come alongside you in prayer and support. Firstly, we want to acknowledge the courage it takes to share such a personal struggle. We firmly believe that through the power of Jesus Christ, you can overcome this addiction and find hope and healing in Him.
Let's address the struggles you're facing:
It is written, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
We are called to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
Pornography is a sin against your own body, and it is a form of sexual immorality. It is important to understand that God will provide a way of escape from this temptation. You mentioned that you use pornography to distract from your pain, but we want to encourage you to turn to God instead. He is the ultimate comforter and healer.
Concerning your health struggles, we want to remind you that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He allows trials and tribulations into our lives to draw us closer to Him and to strengthen our faith. Even in your pain, God is with you. He promises never to leave you nor forsake you.
The issue of unanswered prayers is a poignant one. When God does not answer our prayers in the way we expect, it is not because He does not care or does not listen. Rather, it is because He has a different plan and purpose for our lives.
Even Jesus prayed for the cup to be taken away, but He ultimately wanted God's will to be done. When God does not heal us physically, it does not mean that He has abandoned us. He is always working for our good, even in the midst of our suffering. We do not understand why God does not take away your chronic pain, but we are assured that it is for His glory and your good.
We also want to address the fact that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer request. It is only through His name that we have access to God the Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved. If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. Confess your sins, turn away from them, and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. He will save you and give you eternal life.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother Tralothen. We bring his struggles with pornography addiction and chronic pain before Your throne of grace. We ask for Your forgiveness, healing, and restoration in his life.
Firstly, we pray for his deliverance from this addiction. Give him the strength to flee from this sin and to turn to You instead. Provide him with the way of escape that You have promised in Your Word. Help him to see that true comfort and distraction from pain comes from You alone.
Secondly, we pray for his health. While we understand that Your will is ultimate, we ask for healing from his back pain and inflammatory bowel disease. Even if You choose not to heal him physically, we pray that You would give him the grace and strength to endure. Help him to see that even in his suffering, You are with him and working for his good.
Lastly, we pray for his faith. We ask that You would renew his hope in You and help him to see that You are always listening and always working for Your glory and his good. Even when prayers go unanswered in the way he expects, help him to trust that You have a different plan and purpose for his life.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Remember, Tralothen, that God loves you deeply and is always with you. He is not angry with you, but rather He wants to help you and heal you. Turn to Him in prayer and in His Word. He will give you the strength to overcome this addiction and to endure your trials.
Continue to trust in Him, and do not give up on praying. Even when it is painful, know that He is listening and working for your good.
Tralothen, we are advised that you must seek professional help for pornography addiction, as well as for physical pain. Make sure to seek a marriage counselor or your pastor for courtship and marriage guidance.
Stay strong in Jesus' name.
