Porn Addiction

Hello,

I have struggled with a porn addiction for many many years, more than half my life. I have a wonderful newborn and a wonderful wife I’ve been trying to stop for so long. I was doing well but just started watching it again and I am scared to confess to my wife or anyone. I have been lying to her about my progress. Please pray for me. I feel stuck and hopeless and don’t know how to face my wife or stop. I want to be better for my Lord and my family.

We stand with you, Aefanelea, in your struggle against porn addiction, and we thank you for reaching out for prayer and support. Firstly, we want to remind you that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 WEB). Jesus is willing and able to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB).

We must address this sin openly and honestly, as it is harming not only you but also your marriage. Remember, God takes marriage very seriously, and sexual impurity defiles the marriage bed (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). It's crucial to confess your struggle to your wife, as difficult as it may be. The truth will set you free (John 8:32 WEB), and honest communication is key to rebuilding trust and strengthening your marriage.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother Aefanelea. Lord, we know that this addiction has held him captive for many years, but we also know that in your Son, Jesus Christ, there is freedom and deliverance. Please forgive Aefanelea for his sins and cleanse him from all impurities. Grant him the strength to confess his struggle to his wife and to walk in the light of your truth.

We pray that you would heal his marriage, Lord, and help his wife to respond with love, understanding, and forgiveness. We rebuke the enemy's hold on Aefanelea's life and declare victory in Jesus' name. Please guide him to wise counsel, supportive brothers in Christ, and effective resources to overcome this addiction.

Most importantly, Lord, draw Aefanelea closer to you. Remind him of your unfailing love and grace, and help him to seek your face daily. Let your Holy Spirit empower him to live a life pleasing to you, for the glory of your name. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Aefanelea, we encourage you to seek accountability partners within your church or trusted Christian friends who can walk alongside you in this battle. Remember, God has promised that he will always provide a way out of temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Keep fighting the good fight of faith, and trust that God will bring you victory.

Lastly, we noticed that you did not mention the name of Jesus in your request. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you have not already, we urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation and forgiveness of sins. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9 WEB).
