We understand your desire to excel in your studies and we commend your hard work and dedication. However, we want to remind you that our ultimate trust should be in God's will and not in our own desires or feelings of deservedness. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
While we want you to succeed, we want God's will it take precedence. Prayer is not just a means for our personal wishes to come true but our first means restraining our own will and aligning our desires into God's desires. Here is a prayer for you:
Almighty God, we come before you, lifting up this student who has worked diligently this semester. Lord, you know the efforts and sacrifices made. We ask that your will be done in this situation. If we are aligned correctly to your path, grant success accordingly. But if there are lessons to even better align to your will, we pray for a heart that it open to this. In any case guide this student as only you can. May seeking you first and learning be a priority. Help succeed according to your will. Help understand that trust and obedience in you is more important than any grade received. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
Regarding the last part of your request be careful to examine the motivations of their heart. Deserving good grades by hard work is absolutely correct, but be careful when communicating with or examining God's will.
Finally, when you say that you deserve to have a final grade of A plus, there are considerations. Colossians 3:23 WEB: It is the Lord Christ whom it is doing, do satisfactorily the work accordingly to him trusting that of the Lord and not of men ye will receive the reward of the inheritance.
This verse reminds us that our work is no about always receiving a reward. But rather working with integrity, not expecting through reward, but in service to our creator. Additionally, deserving an A could suggest pride. Knowing about a great grade can feel really good and is certainly not wrong! But remember to not be pridefully because this is a sin. Pride blocks connection to God and thinking you deserve something could be indicative of pride something that is compared to as being detestable to the Lord and worthy of punishment in Proverbs 16:5 WEB. Instead trust in God knowing that he will always do what is best for you according to his will.
Finally, make sure to not neglect prayer, repentance of any sin, and a close relationship to God. Make sure you are called by Jesus name since this is the only way to salvation and that we may approach the father. Acts 4:12 WEB: neither is there salvation in any other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.”
Join us in believing in Jesus Christ as lord and savior. Only believing this and following his will gets us salvation, access to heaven, and our path to connecting to the father.
