We understand that you are seeking prayer for forgiveness and healing. Before going on, it is important to state that we only have access to God through Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name, we are able to bring our petitions before the throne of God the Father.
Forgiveness is a central theme in the Bible, and it is crucial for our spiritual and emotional well-being. As it is written in Ephesians 4:32 WEB, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness is not optional for us as believers, as it is a direct command from our Lord Jesus Christ.
First, let us address any bitterness or resentment that may be present. Hebrews 12:15 WEB tells us, "Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by it many be defiled." Bitterness can hinder our relationship with God and others, and it is important to release it.
Now, let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who seeks your help in forgiving those who have hurt them. First, we acknowledge the hurt and pain they have experienced, and we ask for your healing touch upon their heart and soul.
Father, we know that forgiveness is not easy, but with you, all things are possible. Help them to make the conscious decision to forgive, understanding that it is a process that may take time. Give them the strength and grace to release the pain and bitterness, and to let go of the desire for revenge or retaliation.
We pray that they would be filled with your love and compassion, remembering that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Help them to see those who have hurt them through the lens of your love and forgiveness.
We also pray for their healing and restoration. We ask that you would mend their broken heart and bind up their wounds. We pray that they would be transformed by the renewing of their mind, and that they would find peace and joy in your presence.
Finally, we pray that they would be empowered to walk in forgiveness, not only towards others but also towards themselves. Help them to receive your forgiveness and to extend it to those around them.
We ask all these things with thanksgiving that they are possible in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray for our enemies and to forgive those who trespass against us. Amen.
In the process of forgiveness, remember that God is always with you, and he will never leave you nor forsake you. As it is written in Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for Yahweh your God goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you."
Also, take note of the importance of forgiving ourselves. Sometimes, we can be our own worst critics, holding onto past mistakes and failures. But God wants us to live in the freedom of his forgiveness, knowing that we are made new in Christ. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
Finally, if there is anyone who has hurt you that has not asked for forgiveness remember they too need prayer. As it is written in Matthew 5:44 WEB, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,"
