Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up Girthter's prayer request for her eldest son, Joshua. Lord, we ask for your divine intervention in Joshua's life, especially regarding his battle with depression. We pray that you would touch his heart and bring healing and restoration to his mind, body, and spirit. Your Word says in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." We claim this promise for Joshua, believing that you are near to him in his pain and that you will deliver him from his troubles.
Father, we also pray for Joshua's decision to stop taking his depression medication. We ask for wisdom and discernment for him to seek appropriate medical help and guidance. Help him to understand the importance of taking care of his mental health and to find the right treatment that will bring him stability and peace.
Lord, we lift up the situation of Joshua moving out of the house and desiring independence. We pray for reconciliation and restoration in the relationship between Joshua and his family. May there be open lines of communication, understanding, and forgiveness. Your Word reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." We trust in your guidance and ask that you lead Joshua back to a place of love, support, and unity within his family.
Furthermore, Lord, we bring before you the concerns of suspected drug use and a same-sex relationship. We ask for your grace and mercy to surround Joshua, drawing him closer to you and leading him away from any harmful behaviors. Your Word teaches us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." We pray that Joshua would honor you with his choices and find freedom and fulfillment in a relationship with you.
Lastly, Lord, we pray for Girthter as she carries the burden of her son's struggles. Comfort her heart and give her strength and peace during this challenging time. Surround her with your love and remind her that you are in control. Your Word assures us in Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
