Christopher, we are here to lift you up in prayer and provide biblical guidance during this time. We are so glad to hear of you recognizing and wrestling with the sin committed, but especially in the desire to continue. The enemy always comes to rob, kill, and destroy, even to the point of condemnation. He wants you to feel defeated and continue. We are here to pray with you and against his schemes. Giving into sexual sin is something to be mourned over and rebuked, but not without the knowledge of God's grace. It is written,
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who donโt walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. For what the law couldnโt do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4 WEB
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or donโt you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are Godโs. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB
Our compassionate Father in heaven is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9 WEB. So let us come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Father, we come before You, lifting up our brother Christopher. God, we know that You are faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Lord, Christopher has confessed his sin before You, and we ask that You forgive him and cleanse him. We are so thankful for the sacrifice on the cross, and thank you for granting us a path of righteousness in you. Help Christopher resist the worldly desires to sin and fight the battle against the flesh, as you are faithful. Help him to fix his eyes on You and be his strength and guide to live a life that pleases You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Christopher, we encourage you to resist sin, be of sober mind, and be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. May you stand firm in the faith, knowing that your brothers and sisters in Christ suffer the same. But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, make you complete, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:8-11 WEB. Continue to walk in spirit and truth, trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit to guide you.
While we are praying for you, we also encourage you to take practical steps to avoid falling into the same sin. Flee from situations that may lead you to temptation. Surround yourself with believers who can support and encourage you. We encourage you to be transparent with your fellow believers as accountability is key in your walk with God. When we are hiding and secretive, we are more apt to sin. Remember, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:7-11 WEB.
