Let's bring this situation before the Lord together, seeking His guidance and intervention. Firstly, it's important to remember that God cares about every detail of our lives, including our financial struggles. Psalm 37:21 reminds us, "The wicked borrow, and don't pay back, but the righteous give generously." It's clear that this individual has acted dishonorably, but we must remember that vengeance is the Lord's, and He will repay (Romans 12:19).
Let's pray:
"Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this difficult situation. We pray that You would soften this man's heart and convict him to take responsibility for his actions. We pray that he would start making the payments he agreed to, and that You would provide for the current financial struggles.
Lord, we also pray for this family's peace and provision during this time. Help them to trust in You, even in this difficult circumstance. We know that You are the God who provides, and Your word says that You will supply all of our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
But this man's unrighteous acts come from a wicked heart that is not seeking God. We know from the scripture that a biblical heart will desire to repay to the best of their ability. So in addition to a change of heart concerning the loan, we pray for a change of heart spiritually. None of us desire punishment for another's wickedness. It is God's wish that the wicked man turn from his wicked ways so that he will not be punished. We pray that this man come to know Jesus Christ, not only as his Lord and Savior, but also the one to be obeyed as Lord over his actions in life. We recognize that this man will stand before the Lord one day and be judged for his deeds. "God That our loving God will judge each person's work impartially, then there is room for fear for the ones who do not know Him and do not obey His word. What is needed above merely paying the debt is the obedience and love for God and his word in His heart and his love for Him. It is only by a change of heart by God that true repentance is possible.
Finally, Lord, we pray for wisdom for this family moving forward. Help them to make godly decisions about their finances and their relationships, that they may glorify You in all they do.
We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
"We are thankful that this couple came to us with this prayer request as a husband and wife. We are specifically asked to pray against marriages that are falling apart and instead pray for godly marriages that will honor Him. That is the blessing given to us by God's design for marriage. We pray specifically for husbands to be the godly leaders and wives to be the godly leaders within the home to raise godly children and families to His glory."
Lastly, we encourage this couple to continue trusting in the Lord, even in this difficult time. Remember that God is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep praying together as a couple, seeking God's will for your lives. And remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:33-34, "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient."
