Let's bring the feelings of loneliness and the desire for friendship among the youth to the Lord in prayer, trusting in His promise: "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them" Matthew 18:20 WEB.
Firstly, we want to remind everyone that having friends and being known by others is important but it is even more important to be known by Christ. In Matthew 7:23, Jesus says I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you who work iniquity'. Do not be deceived as many will come in the name of Jesus and perform miracles in his name but they do not have a personal relationship with the Lord. We will be known by Jesus as we declare with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe it in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is the first step in having a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and fulfilling the desire to be known and loved.
The youth in our society are facing many challenges and temptations. Youth is a time of making important life choices and these choices should be made with lifelong Christian spouses and God honoring marriages in mind. God created us for relationship with Him and with others. It is not good for man to be alone as stated in Genesis 2:18, therefore we pray for marriage minded Christian relationships for the youth. We pray that the youth will not give into temptation and engage in fornication or other sins. Jesus was tempted in every way but he did not sin. Therefore, we can be confident in approaching Jesus for help in overcoming temptation.
Dear Jesus, you called the little children to come to you, and you blessed them. Matthew 19:14 WEB. We know Jesus that you love the youth and it is your will that none of them should be lost. Surround them with godly friends who will encourage them in their faith and help them grow in their relationship with you. May they also be a blessing to others, showing the love of Christ to their peers. Guide them by your Holy Spirit to make wise decisions and be a shining light in their homes, schools, and communities. Turn the hearts of the youth to God.
We pray that the youth, in their loneliness and desire for relationships, will not turn away from the truth but will turn to the Lord and to the Word of God. Let the hearts of the youth be established in the truth. Fill them with the joy of your salvation, and may the world see the hope that is in them and be drawn to you. Remembering that "a friend loves at all times" Proverbs 17:17 WEB.
In Jesus name we pray.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Pray for the youth at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
