We are glad to join you in prayer for the healing of your mother's relationship with her father. It's important to remember that God desires reconciliation and forgiveness, as spoken about in the Bible and shown through the life of Jesus. As it is written in Ephesians 4:32 WEB, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
First, we must acknowledge a relationship between a parent and child should not be in vain or taken for granted. This relationship was created by God for love, encouragement, and guidance. It is a blessing from God and should be treated with godly principles and as a heritage from God. As it is written in Psalm 127:3 WEB, "Look, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward." This relationship should be a blessing rather than one of strife and enmity.
Before we pray, we want to remind you of the power of forgiveness. It's clear from the teaching of Jesus that we as Christians are called to a life of forgiveness. This would have to include any unforgiveness between your mother and her father. Mark 11:25 WEB says, "When you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions."
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear mother and her father to You. We pray for healing in their relationship, and we ask that You would soften their hearts toward each other. Help them to forgive one another as You have forgiven us through Christ. Guide them through the power of the Holy Spirit to have godly, loving, and encouraging interactions together.
Lord, we know that You can heal any wound and mend any brokenness. We pray that You would work in their lives, drawing them closer to You and to each other. In all things may You have glory in their lives. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
Be encouraged by the promises of God as you trust in Him for this situation. "Again, amen I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning any thing that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:19-20 WEB).
