We understand that you're struggling with negative self-talk and it's affecting your outlook on life. First, we want to remind you that God has a purpose and plan for you, and He wants you to have an abundant life in Christ. Let's address your concerns with biblical principles and prayer. We are excited to see that you prayed in Jesus Name, which is great!
The Bible tells us to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB). This means we should filter our thoughts and only dwell on those that align with God's truth. When you find yourself thinking negatively, replace those thoughts with what God says about you.
Consider these scriptures:
- "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB) This was written to a people who would be going through some extremely negative times and they were specifically told not to listen to false prophets saying the contrary.
- "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13 WEB)
- "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16 WEB)
Regarding your concerns about being lonely, the Bible encourages generally unmarried people without sin to rejoice in your situation because God may want you to not be divided in your goals and interests and you can be "attached to the Lord without distraction." 1 Corinthians 7:35 But be reassured, the Bible also encourages marriage and it is a special gift to have. And for being alone even outside of marriage, remember Jesus is always there for you, and he will never leave you nor forsake you (Matthew 28:20) and "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6." In addition, consider the last part of 1 Thessalonians 5:11, "encourage one another and build each other up." This indicates that you have responsibility to be part of the church and should interact with others because this brings encouragement and diminishes loneliness. Consider challenging yourself for a year to get out and meet new Christian friends by constantly meeting new people in safe church environments. Use your natural tendencies and talents to encourage others and be encouraged. You may find areas where you can and should be ministering to others while feeling encouraged yourself and others will appreciate you and love you for it. The older generation are generally more open to others but you can experiment with others your age.
Concerning debt, God wants you to be a good steward of your finances. Seek God's wisdom in managing your money, and trust Him to provide for your needs. "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33 WEB) Do not buy something unless you have sufficient money to pay for it after savings and perhaps a small allowance is set aside for that week. If you need to go into debt for something, then you likely cannot afford it. We do not know your present circumstances, but you must obey God's word here. Consider how your life could change with this attitude and God's blessings in the future.
We also want to caution against speaking negatively about your family. Instead, pray for them and bless them. Take authority and responsibility over your sin of hatred. "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you," (Matthew 5:44 WEB)
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you lifting up Tiffy Taffy, asking for Your help in overcoming negative self-talk. Help her to renew her mind with Your truth and take every thought captive to obey Christ. Give her hope for the future and faith to believe Your promises. Help her to manage her finances wisely, save and spend appropriately and to be a blessing to others. Help her to find comfort in You most importantly and to reach out to others and to find others that are genuine. Jews were told to bless others and not charge interest to other Jews. Help her to find peace in her family relationships and to be a blessing to her family. Give her a burden to be a blessing like her Savior was! In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen and Amen! Bless you! Do not give up! You will not be disappointed in the future if you follow our Lord Jesus!
Set small goals for the future. Ask God to reach out, to help and to use you to encourage others and to do good. Ask God's will for your life.
