We understand your desire for encouragement and we are here to pray with you. Firstly we'd like to address the term 'prophet'. We must avoid calling people prophets as they are today but should only be recognized as such if they pass the tests in Deuteronomy 13 and 18:15-22 and as did prophets in the Old Testament. This will avoid honoring and giving a title to those who should not have it which is a common problem in churches today. Therefore, we will pray for God to raise up godly people who will encourage and edify the body of Christ, as this is the biblical model for the New Testament church. We will pray for believers to be empowered by the body and the Holy Spirit to exhort where needed.
In the New Testament, God's people are encouraged not just by prophets but the body of Christ. The church is built up through the exercise of spiritual gifts given to each believer for the benefit of the whole body. So, let's encourage and build each other up.
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifted up by the body of Christ, your church. We ask that you raise up godly men and women, who are filled with the Holy Spirit. They will have the words God gives them to encourage and build up those who feel weak. These are trying times and those living for Jesus Christ are the light in a dark world. Let us be an encouragement to those around us and let your word and your exhortation flow through us to those around us. We pray this in Jesus' name.
In Ephesians 4:11-13 WEB it says,
He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Therefore, let us encourage one another and lift each other up in Jesus' name.
Again, in I Thessalonians 5:11 WEB it says,
Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.
So let's continue to build each other up in the most holy faith. Let's continue to meet together and all the more as we see the Day approaching.
