We understand your burden and we will join you in prayer, dear friend. The Bible tells us to "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22, WEB)
Firstly, we commend you for your desire to see your father rely on Jesus for his needs. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can truly find peace and provision, as He tells us, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28, WEB)
However, we must also address the issue of boundaries in your relationship with your father. While the Bible commands us to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12, WEB), it does not mean that we should allow them to become a burden that hinders our own life and growth. Jesus Himself said, "Leave your father and mother, and cling to your wife, and the two shall be one flesh." (Matthew 19:5, WEB) Your desire to have your own family and be independent is not wrong, but a natural progression of life.
We pray that your father will come to know Jesus as his personal savior and rely on Him for his needs. We also pray that God will give you the strength to set healthy boundaries and the wisdom to communicate this to your father in a respectful and biblical manner.
"Lord Jesus, we come before you today to lift up our dear friend and their father. We pray that you will reveal yourself to their father and that he will come to rely on you for all his needs. We also ask that you give our friend the strength and wisdom to set healthy boundaries and to pursue the life that you have for them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you to continue praying and trusting in God. He has a plan and a purpose for your life, and He will guide you through this situation. Remember, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB)
